New...

...earrings! I have just started changing Quinn's earrings, and I am having so much fun. She got them pierced in July and has been wearing the same studs since then. I decided to get her some cute pearls yesterday while I was running errands, and I think they are going to stay put for a few days. I LOVE earrings, so I am excited to share this with Quinn!

In other news, Quinn recently cut her first molar. She slept terribly all week, and the little tooth finally popped through right before bed last night. It was bloody and swollen, so I can only imagine how much pain the little punkin was in! She is just getting over a bad earache, too, so we will be glad to have our normal sweetie back.

10 months!

A wee bit tardy on this post. Quinn turned 10 months earlier this week without notice or celebration! So here is a mini-update of what's going on in her life.

Doing..

Still pulling up on everything and cruising along our furniture. Her little legs are so strong! She has taken tons of tumbles and spills but continues to work hard. She wants to stand so badly!

Saying "bye-bye" (and waving while she says it, "ma-ma," "da-da," blowing raspberries, and lots of other interesting sound effects. It's so funny to listen to her on her baby monitor when she's supposed to be napping or piping up with some random noise from the backseat of the car.

"Swimming" in the tub. A true Pisces! Can't wait to take her to the pool this summer (right, Jenni and Jack?).

Eating...

Still loving everything. She loves all vegetables, fruit, and crunchy things. She's starting to eat a little bit more protein and dairy now, and eats quite a bit of what we eat. She plucked a cherry tomato right off of my salad plate the other day and popped it right in her mouth!

Still drinking several bottles a day. No luck on the cup front, but we're not pushing it.

Sleeping...

Pretty well. She takes two naps a day at day care, and generally sleeps from about 9 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Once in a while she'll wake up in the night (twice a week, maybe) but she'll go right back to sleep with a drink and a snuggle (usually from Daddy). I love when she's home on the weekends because she takes AWESOME, long naps. We must wear her out! I know that she'll probably go down to one nap soon, and I'm sure that that will be an interesting transition.

Pulling everything out of her baskets in the living room. Aren't I hilarious?

Who, me?

11 resolutions for 2011

1) Revive my old habit of making crafts! (Jewelry, frames, etc.). I would love to create more things for my home.

2) Stress less. We'll see...

3) Try to cook a wider variety of foods. Randy and I get so caught in a rut of what we eat (turkey burgers, quesadillas, tacos, stroganoff, pizza, etc.) and it feels like we never try anything new at home. My tentative goal is two new recipes per month. I'll be sure to share if I have any successes!

4) Make the time I spend at home with my family more about quality than quantity. While I don't think that I can eliminate the nights I spend at home poring over essays at my kitchen table, I can maximize the weekend mornings I get to snuggle with Quinn (and Randy) and all of the other in-between times that I take for granted.

5) Figure out what I want to do with my career. (Actually doing it is not on the agenda for 2011.) This will include research and soul-searching, I think.

6) Continue to Christmas shop EARLY. I did it all before Halloween/Thanksgiving time this year and it was so much less stressful than running out at the last minute.

7) Continue to grow my faith and develop an even closer relationship with God.

8) I want to grow out my hair!! I want long(ish), blonde waves. I am scheduling a hair cut sometime this week, so hopefully Brittany can help me figure something out.

9) Finally figure out the purse/wallet/diaper bag/school bag/bag for papers situation. I never know which bag I need, what is in which bag, etc. Yikes! I want a perfect solution, but will settle for something that just works.

10) Transition Quinn to the guest bedroom down the hall. This will probably be very near the end of 2011, depending on if she is even ready for a bed or not when she is almost two. We'll see! I have some cute ideas for her room. :-)

11) Take life one day at a time. I need to remember that I cannot control everything and that there are powers at work that are much bigger than I am and who probably know a little more.
