No boys allowed
Sorry for the blurriness of this photo (phone pic), but I wanted to share with you Quinn's new secret spot - on the second shelf of one of our kitchen cabinets! She is such a little monkey and is such a determined climber; she got in here all by herself! No, we don't regularly let our daughter do this. :-)

Ultrasound update
Good morning! This morning I had my 22-week appointment and and ultrasound. Everything went fine with my appointment; I got my delicious drink for next month's diabetes test and asked the doctor about any special considerations to keep in mind for my upcoming vacation to Mexico. He told me to walk as much as I can (which I do now anyway - my hips thank me for it) and to be extra careful about water and produce.
The ultrasound went fine, too. There were some snags with the machine. At one point, IT'S A GIRL came up flashing in big green letters. I knew it was a fluke, though, because we were looking at the heart. :-) The tech got things fixed and sent us on our way with news of a healthy, growing boy.

14 months :-)
Quinn is 14 months!
What Quinn is up to - -
Eating....GREAT. We have loosened the nutritional strings a bit and she's gotten to have a few treats here and there, like pizza, cake, cereal bars, even hot dogs. :-) Randy and I don't eat perfectly all the time, and it's easier to feed her what we eat. With two busy parents and a pregnant, hungry momma, our dinners can be random, but it all works!
Sleeping....yikes. Next, please.
Climbing everywhere. Her newest feat is going up ALL of the stairs, and then all the way back down. She's mastered both climbing and descending with only one real tumble so far. She is so fast. We have a baby gate for our upstairs, but we don't have one that is wide enough to keep her from going UP the stairs. We'll see..
Lots of talking! Her latest is "no," even when she means yes. :-) Once in a while she will put a phrase together like "no, mama" or "bye, mama" but it is still mostly one intelligible word in a string of babbling!
Hobbies...Quinn still loves to organize and sort everything. She has a cabinet that is all hers, with my Tupperware in it, and also loves to organize the koozie drawer and the bib drawer. She got a new ball that she is rolling and playing with constantly. She is also getting great at throwing things like blocks and seeing how far they can go. We might need to rein her in on that one. :-) She watches TV sometimes in the afternoon and loves "Curious George."
Our little critter really is a sweetie. She loves to crawl in your lap and throw her arms around your neck and give you lots of wet, sloppy kisses. Parenting is definitely a challenge, but this is a really fun age. :-)

Happy Mother's Day!
The Kasparbauer crew enjoyed a nice, relaxing Mother's Day! Randy and Quinn were out of town Thursday-Saturday (they went to Manning - Randy had some work to take care of there) so I got lots of work done here. I was so glad to see them, though, on Saturday! I went to some garage sales Saturday morning and they were waiting for me when I got back. We worked around the house and relaxed Saturday before church, then grabbed Subway afterwards and went back home. I love relaxing weekends!
My loves spoiled me Sunday! Quinn (with Daddy's help, I think) made me breakfast on Sunday and then we spent the morning playing. Quinn is almost ready to transition to one nap, but she gets SO tired! She was literally falling asleep eating her lunch. After she took her nap, we ran some errands around town and went to the PARK! We had just planned on taking her to swing. She didn't love that too much, but man, she went crazy for playing on the jungle gym. She was absolutely fearless and was climbing everywhere, going down the slides with Mommy and Daddy's help, and having a blast getting dirty. It was so much fun to watch. Sometimes she seems like such a baby to me, but times like that she is all toddler.
In other news, Randy is hard at work on Master's #2. He is getting his MBA, so he he is busy taking Accounting and Marketing. I know nothing about either of those things aside from my one semester of Accounting in high school, so I am certainly no help! He is officially an Upper Iowa Peacock. Yes, seriously.
I am winding down the school year with a lot on my mind. Next year, I will not be returning as a classroom teacher. Instead, I will be the literacy interventionist in my district's 9th grade building. I am so excited to take this step forward in my career. I knew going into teaching that I didn't want to be in the classroom forever, so this should be an excellent chance to test the waters with something new. I don't know exactly where I want my career to go (or where it wants to take me?) but I feel honored to have been selected for my new role. Perhaps most importantly, my friends and family won't have to hear me complain about the hours of checking papers every night. I will be sure to keep everyone posted about my new endeavor!
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
