This messy man....
....is getting tubes in his ears. After a rough fall/early winter with multiple ear infections, failed antibiotics, etc., our pediatrician referred us to the ENT for an ear consultation. Sure enough, Wes is a prime candidate for tubes. He will be getting them in early January. His procedure should be the same as Quinn's, except that he doesn't need to get his adenoids out like she did; this should make for a quicker recovery. I have my fingers crossed and a prayerful heart that everything goes well. We want our little man on the mend!
Fun fact: our referral came after a doctor's appointment where I took Wes to discuss food allergies. Turns out he only has exczema, which has actually cleared up significantly! Our doctor said the condition can be made worse when a child is a messy eater and often has food on his or her face. I don't know anyone like that...
Snow Manny pt. II
Just a few pics of Quinn with her snowman! We haven't ventured out to try to make another snowman with the snow from our BLIZZARD yet!

Snow Manny
On Sunday morning we woke up to a little bit of snow! Of course Quinn wanted to get in it and play right away. Randy and Quinn made this masterpiece, which Quinn named "Snow Manny." :-) Clearly, they used most of the snow that we had in our yard. Let's hope for lots more snowmen in our future!

watch me grow: 12 months!/12 month stats
Despite the funny faces, runny nose, and drooly mouth, I promise you that Wes is as handsome as ever. :-) (Do you see the wave of destruction this boy leaves behind him?)
Wes, your second year of life is off to an interesting start!
We had your well-baby appointment on Tuesday. You did great, except for an ear infection in one ear. Just a day later, we were at a different pediatrician's office getting you treated for bronchiolitis. You always keep us on our toes!
At 12 months old you...
*weight 23 lbs., 13 oz. (80th percentile)
*are 30 3/4" long (75th percentile)
*have a head circumference of 18 1/2" (75th percentile)
*cruise everywhere and walk with help.
*I have lost count of how many teeth you have. 12?
*wear mostly 18 month clothes and size 3 diapers. You have so many cute fall and winter clothes. You look like such a big boy! I definitely dress you for comfort most days. Bring on the sweatsuits!
*nap once at day care, but twice when you are home with us.
*sleep from 7 p.m. - 5:45 or 6:00 a.m. Let's hope this continues, because I love your sleep schedule right now!
*continue to love trucks, cars, and balls. You are getting into chunky puzzles and blocks. You are starting to love getting into drawers and cabinets and pulling everything out.
*say mama, dada, cup, and lots of other babbles. :-)
*are still a pretty good eater. With being sick, you haven't eaten much this week. You have enjoyed peanut butter sandwiches and cantaloupe lately. Maybe those are your comfort foods.
We love you so much, big boy! Thanks for a wonderful year. I hear you breathing in the baby monitor. You are sleeping so soundly. Every day with you is a new adventure. Happy 12 months, Wes!

Bronchiolitis
Well, friends, we officially have our first big sickness of the school year. Wes is home sick with bronchiolitis, a respiratory infection that causes blockages and buildup in his airway. He is getting breathing treatments every four hours at home, and they seem to be working. We can definitely tell when it has been a few hours, because he starts to get really wheezy again. He has been home from daycare for two days, but we are hoping that he will be ready to go "back to school" on Monday! He is also dealing with an ear infection right now. His class sent him a card, and he is getting very spoiled at home with extra snuggles and treats.
Pumpkin Patch
Last Sunday morning we traveled to nearby Patch's Pumpkins! Quinn had been to a pumpkin patch with day care before, but this was Wes's first time. It was a chilly morning. We bundled the kids up in winter coats and hats. They were able to shed the coats once the sun came out, though. We got to the patch as soon as it opened and met our friends Jake, Stacy, and their girls Stella and Charlotte there. This pumpkin patch has tons of kids' activities as well as the usual patch stuff. Here's to a new fall tradition!

Beautiful Babies
Hold on to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
'Cause I’m going to make this place your home
Settle down, it'll all be clear
Don't pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost you can always be found
Just know you’re not alone
'Cause I’m going to make this place your home
Just know you’re not alone
'Cause I’m going to make this place your home

First Birthday Party!
Last Saturday night we had Wes's 1st birthday party at our house. Forgive me, but I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that my littlest nugget has turned ONE. We kept things simple with just family (and my friend/Wes's godmother Gina!), pizza, a few salads, and cake. This year's theme was John Deere, and man, did Wes clean up! He got so many toy tractors, Caterpillar toys, and farm stuff. He (and Quinn) are in toy heaven right now. He is such a lucky little man!
Wes got his very own smash cake and went right to town on it. That is such a messy tradition, but it is definitely one of my favorite things about kiddoes turning 1!
